Syracuse Lead (Pb) Crisis Study

The Environmental Justice Lab is committed to using the resources at our disposal to address the lead crisis in Syracuse, NY. Our ongoing research examines the history of lead pipe abatement in Syracuse and the lifecycle of lead pipe disposal. We use qualitative methods as well as spatial and statistical techniques to analyze equity as it relates to the prioritization of lead service line replacement in different parts of the city.

This video, created by a member of our research team, features members of the advocacy group Families for Lead Freedom Now as well as the director of the EJ Lab. It explores the Syracuse lead crisis and the role of community organizing around this issue.
